On Friday 16th 2007 Northumbria Northumbria University held a Social Learning Masterclass. The event involved the exploration of the evolving nature of social software and learning within two specific learning environments, Omnium and various web 2.0 social software technologies in addition to, a university Managed Learning Environment (MLE) Studynet. Both environments utilise creative and innovative methodologies in their design, which are radically different from existing approaches to e-learning and collaborative learning spaces.
Martina A. Doolan, a Principal Lecturer in Computer Science with a university-wide role in the Blended Learning CETL at the University of Hertfordshire. Martina has significant expertise in social constructivism, developing online collaborative spaces and building learning communities using various technologies including Web 2.0 social software technologies. Martina was recently awarded a National Teaching Fellowship (2007) in recognition of these achievements.
