[edit] Introduction
The concept of eTV is a number of short (20 to 30 minute) video interviews surrounding a number of elearning related aspects, all available to the HE community via an eTV public website. We intend to badge this as something like ‘elearningTV’ or simply ‘eTV’.
[edit] Proof of concept
eTV is currently at the proof of concept stage, and as such we are only currently looking at exemplars from Northumbria. If the concept is well received then we will expand to include examplars from other UK HE institutions.
[edit] Benefits
From Northumbria’s perspective we wish to use the materials created to:
- Show the HE community that we are a leader in the field of elearning;
- That we wish to share our expertise with the HE community;
- To advertise Northumbria’s skillset.
The benefits to the HE community could include:
- Promote exemplars across the HE sector;
- Help promote the work of HeLF (initially the idea is to promote eTV through the HeLF list group (with HeLFs' approval);
[edit] Interview format
Mark Burrell will do the interviewing and questions can be pre-agreed. The whole idea is to do something relatively informal but something that would be of interest to the wider HE community and get Northumbria (and especially the eLIT team) a bit of PR in the meanwhile. It’s not intended to be fully PR or to be fully ‘warts and all’ – but somewhere in the middle where interviewees would be happy to share their experiences with others. Also, it’s not meant to be onerous for the interviewees, a light chat on a subject they are comfortable with in a relaxed environment. Months of heavy preparation definitely not required!
[edit] IPR
We would ask interviewees to sign their performance rights over to us, but in return all interviewees will get a copy of the finished video to use as they wish (website, etc). We will probably also create DVDs for distribution too, if required.
[edit] Northumbria exemplars
Plans for the initial proof of concept filming are well under way. Current experts from Northumbria, either lined up for interviews, or still mulling the idea over, include:

[edit] Initial filming schedule
Filming took place on the 22nd February. Those taking part were:

The videos have now been rendered and the website is in an initial draft stage. Here is the eTV promo text to be used on the website.
